All LG Tracfone secure startup bypass Forgot PIN, Pattern, Password

All the LG Tracfone phones until Android 9 offer the secure startup option as an added layer of security over the screen lock. You won’t find this option on LG K31 Rebel as it was launched with Android 10 out of the box. The secure startup option remains even after updating the phone from Android 9 t0 10.

On any of the LG Tracfone phone models running on Android 8 Oreo, Android 9 Pie & Android 10, you can bypass the secure startup screen by following the below troubleshooting guide.

As the name suggests, the secure startup gets activated on every restart. You won’t receive any notifications for calls, or messages until you unlock the screen with the correct secure startup PIN, Pattern, or Password.

So, without any further delay, let’s bypass the secure startup screen to reach the LG Tracfone home screen –

How to bypass secure startup on LG Tracfone – G5, Stylo 4, Stylo 5, Journey, Premier Pro Plus, Reflect, Rebel 4

I’m stuck on the LG Journey secure startup screen. I don’t remember the secure startup pattern lock.

We get 30 attempts to draw the correct pattern.

After 10 failed attempts, we need to restart the phone and try again.

After exhausting all attempts, it shows a warning on the final attempt – “If you do not draw the correct pattern, your phone will be automatically factory data reset and all files will be erased.”

You do not have to wait until the 30 attempts. You can hard reset the phone using the volume down + power buttons via the recovery mode.

Long-press the power button and choose “POWER OFF” to turn off your phone.

Once your LG phone is off, press & hold the volume down + power keys to turn it on.

As soon as the “LG logo” appears, release only the power button for a moment and hold it again. Do not release the volume down button during the entire process.

Keep pressing both the keys until you reach the recovery mode as shown below.

In the recovery mode, we need to use the volume rocker and power button.

Press the volume down key to move down from “No(Exit)” to “Yes”. Now, click the power key once to select “Yes”.

Again go down from “No” to “Yes” and hit the power key to reset your LG Tracfone device.

After the reset, I’ve landed on the “Welcome” page.

Let’s click the “Forward arrow” to move ahead.

Now, we have reached the internet connection page.

Connect your LG phone to a Wi-fi network and click “NEXT”.

The phone will now stay on the “Checking for updates” screen for a minute or two.

Now, we have reached the “Copy apps & data” page.

Choose “Set up as new” to proceed.

Hit the “Don’t copy” option if your LG Tracfone phone is on Android 10.

This time we are on the pattern lock verification screen. As I don’t remember the correct pattern, I’ve picked the 2nd option – “USE MY GOOGLE ACCOUNT INSTEAD”.

As the device was reset via recovery mode, we need to verify with the previously synced Google account to proceed further.

Enter your Google account credentials and follow the on-screen prompts to reach the LG Tracfone home screen.

In case, you don’t remember the last synced Google account, follow the below method to bypass the Google verification screen –

To bypass the Google lock, we need to go 2 steps back from the “Verify your account” page to the “Set Internet Connection” screen.

On the internet connection page, you need to tap the “Wifi button” and the “NEXT button” at the same time.

On hitting the 2 keys together, you’ll reach the “Date & Time” page (or the “Google Services” page on Android 10. )

Click “NEXT” to move ahead.

Hit “NEXT” on the “Name” page.

This brings us to the “Protect your phone” screen.

Let’s use it to add a new lock screen Pattern, PIN, or Password.

I’ve picked the PIN option. This new PIN will replace the old secure start-up pattern lock.

Choose “No, thanks” on the Secure start-up page and click “NEXT”.

Add an easy-to-remember PIN such as 1234

Re-enter the PIN and click “OK”.

The screen lock has been changed.

After adding the PIN lock, it brings me to the “Google services” screen.

Accept the Google services terms and conditions.

Now, turn on Wifi on the “Set internet connection” screen and click “NEXT”.

Click “Set up as new” on the “Copy apps & data” screen.

This will bring you to the “Verify PIN” screen as shown below.

In case it skips the screen lock verification page and directly takes you to the “Google – Verify your Account” page, then you need to hard reset the phone once again via the recovery mode. After the reset, you’ll get the “Verify PIN” option.

Verify with the PIN code we set earlier i.e. 1234

The PIN verification is successful.

Hit “Skip” on the Google sign-in screen to proceed further.

Tap “NEXT” on the “Date & Time” screen.

Now, accept the Google services terms and conditions.

Finally, tick all the “I agree” checkboxes on the “Legal Documents” page to reach your LG Tracfone’s home screen.
