LG Tracfone Hard Reset when locked out unlock pattern bypass password

Are you locked on your LG Tracfone Android phone and you don’t remember the lock screen password/PIN/Pattern/Knock Code? Don’t worry you’re not alone. In a few minutes, you’ll be able to use your phone once again.

Unfortunately, you cannot bypass the LG Tracfone lock screen without a reset. We need to hard reset the phone using volume down & power keys via Recovery mode. After the reset, you need to verify with the previously synced Google account to complete the device setup and to reach the home screen.

Follow the step by step process with screenshots –

My LG Journey Tracfone is stuck on the lock screen. I don’t remember the screen lock Pattern.

I kept on trying in the hope to get an account recovery option in the form of “Forgot Password” or “Google account sign in”.

However, only the wait time kept increasing after every few failed attempts.

So, the last resort is a hard reset via the recovery mode.

To put your LG Tracfone into recovery mode you need to power it off.

It’s not letting me turn off the phone without unlocking the screen. There comes an error – “Unlock the phone to power off”.

Now we are going to restart the phone and during the restart, you need to press the volume down + power keys to enter recovery mode.

Long-press the power button and choose “RESTART” as shown above.

Now, immediately press & hold the volume down + power buttons.

During the restart, when “LG Logo” shows up release the power key for a moment and hold it again. Do not leave the volume down key.

Keep pressing both the buttons until you enter the Recovery mode.

In the recovery mode, we need to use the volume rocker and power keys.

Go down from “No(Exit)” to “Yes” with the volume key.

Now, press the power button once.

Repeat the previous steps.

Move down from No to Yes and click the power key to reset your LG Tracfone device.

The factory data reset takes a few minutes.

After the reset, it brings you to the “Welcome” page.

Hit the arrow to begin the device setup.

Now, connect your LG Tracfone device to a Wi-fi network and hit “NEXT” to proceed further.

The phone stays on the “Checking for updates” screen for a few minutes.

The next page is “Copy apps & data”.

If your Tracfone device is running on Android 8 or 9 choose “Set up as new” or else “Don’t copy” if the software version is Android 10.

Now, it brings me to the pattern lock verification screen. There is one more option on this page – “USE MY GOOGLE ACCOUNT INSTEAD”. As we don’t remember the correct pattern, let’s choose the Google account option.

Now, sign in with your previously synced Google account and follow the 0n-screen prompts to reach the LG Tracfone home screen.

However, if you’ve forgotten the Google account as well, then follow the below method to bypass the Google verification –

How to bypass Google Account Verification – FRP Lock on LG Tracfone without computer Android 8 Oreo, 9 Pie, & 10

To bypass the Google lock use the back button to go back from the “Google – Verify your account” page to the “Set Internet Connection” screen.

This time we are on the “Set Internet Connection” screen.

We need to tap 2 buttons at the same time. Hit the “Wifi button” and the “NEXT button” simultaneously.

When done correctly, it’ll bring you to the “Date & Time” screen if your LG Tracfone is running on Android 8/9.

On LG Tracfone Android 10 devices it brings you to the Google Services page.

Follow the on-screen prompts and keep moving ahead.

We have now landed on the “Protect your phone” screen.

It can be used to add a new Knock Code, Pattern, PIN, or Password.

This new screen lock will replace the old lock screen pattern.

I’m adding a new PIN lock.

Choose “No, thanks” on the “Secure Startup” page and click “NEXT”.

Enter the PIN code 1234 and hit “NEXT”.

Re-enter the same PIN code and tap “OK”.

We have successfully replaced the old screen lock pattern with this new PIN.

After changing the screen lock, I’ve reached the Google services page. Accept the terms and conditions.

This time we are on the “Set Internet Connection” screen.

Turn on the Wifi and touch “NEXT”.

Choose Set up as new/Don’t copy on the “Copy apps & data” screen.

From the “Copy apps & data” screen it directly landed on the “Google – Verify your account” page. It skipped the screen lock verification page. We need the “Verify PIN” option to enter the PIN code 1234

We are going to hard reset the phone via recovery mode to restore the screen lock verification page.

NOTE: On LG Android Tracfone Android 8 devices you won’t face this issue. Enter the PIN code 1234 on the “Verify PIN” screen and follow the on-screen prompts to reach the home screen.

To put our Tracfone device into recovery mode we need to power it off.

Long-press the power button and choose “POWER OFF” as shown above.

Now, press & hold the volume down + power buttons to turn on your phone.

When the “LG logo” shows up, only leave the power key for a moment and hold it again. Do not release the volume down button.

Keep pressing both the keys to enter Recovery Mode.

Click the volume button to go down from “No(Exit)” to “Yes”. Select the “Yes” option with the power button.

Again move down from “No” to “Yes” and reset your device with the power key.

After a few minutes, you’ll land on the “Welcome” screen.

Click the arrow to begin the setup.

Now, connect to a Wi-Fi network and click “NEXT”.

Choose DON’T COPY/Set up as new on the “Copy apps & data” page.

After the reset, we get the “Verify PIN” option.

Enter the PIN code 1234 and tap “Done”.

The PIN verification is successful. We have bypassed the Google account.

Use the “Skip” option to get past the Google sign-in screen.

Now, accept the Google services terms and conditions.

Tick the “I agree” checkbox when you reach the last screen of the setup wizard i.e. the “Legal Documents” page. Hit “DONE” to complete the setup wizard.

We have successfully landed on the LG Tracfone home screen by doing a hard reset.
