Moto G Power Screen lock bypass Android 11 – Forgot PIN, Password 2021

The 2 recent Moto G Power devices are the 2020 version with model number XT2041 & the latest 2021 device XT2117.

Moto G Power 2020 is now updated to Android 11 but the newer model is still running on Android 10.

On either of the Moto G Power devices, you get 5 screen lock options in the form of Face Unlock, Fingerprint, PIN, Pattern & Password.

In this post, we are going to learn how to bypass the lock screen when locked out due to a forgotten PIN, Pattern, or Password on Moto G Power.

So, let’s begin with the troubleshooting –

How to bypass screen lock on Moto G Power XT-2041 XT-2117 / Forgot PIN, Password, Pattern / Locked Out

I have forgotten my Moto G Power screen lock password.

Unfortunately, we cannot bypass the lock screen without a reset. During the factory reset, all your internal storage data will get wiped including photos, videos, apps, etc.

To hard reset the phone, we need to put it into recovery mode.

To access the recovery mode, let’s power off the phone.

Long-press the power button and choose “Power off” as shown above.

Once your phone is off, Press & hold the volume down & power keys.

Now our phone has reached a black screen with the “START” option.

Use the volume rocker to switch from “START” to “RECOVERY MODE” and press the power button to select this option.

This brings us to the “No command” screen.

To reach the Recovery Mode –

  • Press & hold the power button. Keep the Power key pressed and tap the Volume UP button once.
  • Release both the keys once you reach the “Android Recovery” page.

We are now in Recovery Mode.

Use the volume down key to move from “Reboot system now” to “Wipe data/factory reset”.

Now, click the Power button once to select this option.

Again use the volume down key to move down from “Cancel” to “Factory data reset”.

Press the Power key to begin the factory data reset.

Once the data wipe is complete, tap the power button one more time to reboot the phone.

After a few minutes, I’ve reached the “Hi There” screen on my Moto G Power.

Let’s tap the “START” button to proceed.

Now, we need to connect our Moto G Power to the internet. My phone is connected to the “Home-Wifi-4G” network.

Your phone will remain on the “Getting your phone ready” screen for a while.

Afterward, we have reached the “Copy Apps & Data” page.

Choose “Don’t copy” to proceed.

This brings us to the Screen lock verification page.

As I don’t remember the lock screen password, I’ll pick the alternate option – “Use my Google account instead”.

Now, we have reached the Google verification page. Here we need to sign in with the previously synced Google account on this device.

Enter your Google account credentials and follow the 0n-screen prompts to reach the Moto G Power home screen.

In case, you don’t remember the last synced Google account, head over to the below troubleshooting guide to bypass Google Verification/FRP Lock on Moto G Power –

Hit “START” to proceed.

On the next page, click the back button once to reach the “Connect to Wifi” screen.

Again hit “Skip” and then “Continue” as done before.

This brings us to the Google Play Services page.

We have successfully bypassed the Google account. The “Verify your account” screen is not showing anymore.

Accept the Google services terms and conditions.

We are now on the “Set Screen Lock” page.

Choose “Skip” to bypass this page. We can add a screen lock later.

Hit “Accept & continue” on the Motorola Privacy page.

Disable the “Subscribe to emails” option and tap “Next”.

Select “Get started” on the following page.

Keep hitting “Next” to move ahead.

Finally, swipe up the screen from the bottom to reach the Moto G Power home screen. You can follow the arrow in the above screenshot.
