Moto G Fast Locked Out -Forgot Password, Pattern, PIN XT2045-3

Motorola G Fast was released in the year 2020 for Boost Mobile. The factory unlocked version was also released at around the same time. It was one of the early Moto devices to receive the Android 11 software update in 2021.

What are your options when you’re locked out on your Moto G Fast device? Can you bypass the lock screen without a reset?

To unlock the screen without the password, we need to hard reset the device via Recovery Mode. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to bypass the screen lock without a reset.

After the reset, you need to verify with the previously synced Google account to reach the Moto G Fast home screen.

In this post, we are going to learn how to bypass the Moto G8 Fast lock screen as well as the FRP lock if you forget the password, PIN, or Pattern.

So, let’s begin the troubleshooting –

I do not remember the Motorola G Fast lock screen password. To bypass the lock screen we need to hard reset the device via recovery mode.

Power off your Moto G Fast to enter Recovery Mode.

Long-press the power key and select “Power off” as shown above. Wait for the phone to turn off completely.

Now, press and hold the volume down + power keys.

It’ll bring you to a black screen with the “START” option.

Use the volume rocker to switch from “START” to “RECOVERY MODE”.  Now, press the power button to enter recovery mode.

Instead of recovery mode, it took me to the “No command” screen.

To exit this screen, press & hold the power button. Keep it pressed and tap the volume up key once.

Release both the keys when you reach the “Android Recovery” screen.

Now, to reset the device go down from “Reboot system now” to “Wipe data/factory reset” with the volume down key.  Then click the power button to select the “Wipe data/factory reset” option.

Now, use the volume rocker to move down from “Cancel” to “Factory data reset”. Then click the power button to reset your device.

After the factory reset, press the power key one more time to reboot your phone.

The factory data reset takes a few minutes and then we reach the “Hi There” screen.

Click the “START” button to begin the device setup.

In the next step, we need to connect our device to the internet using a Wifi network.

The phone is getting ready. This process takes some time and then it brings you to the “Copy apps and data” page.

Choose “Don’t copy” to move ahead.

Now, I’m stuck on the screen lock verification page. To get past this screen I either need the lock screen password or the previously synced Google account.

Sign in with your Google account and follow the on-screen prompts to reach the Motorola G Fast home screen.
