LG G8x is now updated to Android 11. It was launched in November 2019 with Android 9 Pie. Being a flagship device it has received 2 major updates in its lifecycle.
After this new Android 11 update, the old FRP bypass method does not work. Now, we need a new method to get past the Google account verification on LG G8x.
The Factory Reset Protection on G8x gets enabled when you reset the phone using the volume down + power keys via Recovery Mode. During the device setup, we need to verify with the lock screen PIN/Pattern/Password or with the previously synced Google account.
Let’s see how to reach the G8x home screen when stuck on the Google lock screen –
I was locked out on my LG G8x due to the forgotten lock screen password. The only option left was a hard reset using the volume down & power keys.
After the reset, I’ve reached the “Welcome” screen of the setup wizard.
Let’s tap the “forward button” to complete the device setup.
On the following page, we need to set up the new second screen with or without a notch. Click “Next” to proceed further.
Now, we have to connect our G8x Thinq to a Wifi network. My phone is now connected to the inernet.
After a few minutes, I’ve reached the “Copy apps & data” page. Let’s choose “Don’t copy” to move ahead.
Now, we have reached the screen lock verification page. We either need to enter the correct screen lock password or sign in with the last-synced Google account.
Let’s try to get past the Google lock as per the below troubleshooting guide –
How to bypass Google account verification – FRP lock on LG G8x Android 11 2021 2022 LM-G850 T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Factory Unlocked
The below video shows how to bypass Google account on LG K51 Android 11. This same method applies to LG G8x as well –
However, it is observed that on every LG Android 11 device, no matter which method you use to bypass the FRP lock, after completing the device setup & reaching the home screen, it automatically resets on its own.
When you bypass the Google verification & reach the home screen an error flashes on the screen – “Factory reset is proceeded by server policy” and the phone gets reset.
After the reset, you again reach the “Welcome” page. So, as of now, the only solution is a firmware downgrade. You need to downgrade the LG G8x Thinq firmware from Android 11 to Android 10.
After the downgrade, you can use the old method to bypass the Google account on LG G8x Android 10 –

NOTE: The below screenshots belong to LG K51. You need to follow the same procedure to downgrade the LG G8x firmware from Android 11 to 10.
To flash the stock firmware you need to install the LG Mobile driver on your PC.
Double-click the downloaded “LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.5” setup file to begin the installation.
Follow the on-screen prompts and finish the driver installation as shown above.
After installing the driver, we need to put our G8x into download mode.
Power off your phone to enter Download Mode.
To put your LG G8x Thinq into Download Mode –
- Turn off your phone.
- Get the USB Type-C charging cable.
- Turn on your PC.
- Connect one end of the cable to the PC.
- Press the LG G8x volume up key. Keep it pressed and connect the other end of the USB cable to the phone.
- Your G8x must be now on the “Firmware Update” screen. It’s also known as Download Mode.
Now, wait until the driver installation is complete.
The installation status can be checked using the Device Manager on your PC.
We need to install the LGE Mobile USB Serial Port & USB Modem drivers.
Now, the phone is ready for flashing.
Install the downloaded LGUP_Lab_Frame_Ver_1.16 setup file as shown above.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the InstallShield wizard.
Before running the LGUP flash tool, we need to copy and replace the downloaded LGUP_Common.dll with the same file in the LGUP folder.
Go to the Drive where you’ve installed the LGUP software. I’ve installed it in Local Disk (C:).
Now, open the “Program Files (x86)” folder as shown above.
Double-click the “LG Electronics” folder to open it.
Now, open the LGUP folder.
In LGUP, open the “model” folder.
Now, double-click the “common” folder.
Paste the copied DLL file “LGUP_common.dll” in this folder.
When prompted, choose “Replace the file in the destination”.
Now, click “Continue” to give the administrator access to copy this file.
After replacing the DLL file, open the LGUP tool as shown above.
The connected phone will be visible as LM-G850QM. This is the model number of the LG G8x factory unlocked version.
Now, click under “File Path” and tap the “3 dots” icon to load the kdz firmware file for flashing.
Browse for the downloaded LG G8x Android 10 kdz firmware file G850QM20e_00_NAO_US_OP_0401.kdz on your computer.
The firmware file is loaded for flashing.
Warning: Make sure you’ve loaded the correct firmware for your LG G8x model. The wrong firmware may brick your phone. The firmware file belongs to the LG G8x factory unlocked version with the model number LMG850QM.
Now, hit “Start” to flash the Android 10 stock firmware.
You can check the progress on your phone screen as well as the LGUP window.
Do not disconnect the phone until the process is 100% complete.
The phone has rebooted at around 80% progress.
The progress bar has reached the 100% mark. We have successfully downgraded the LG G8x firmware from Android 11 to Android 10.
Now, you can follow the LG G8x Android 10 FRP bypass tutorial to reach the G8x home screen as follows –
