LG FRP Bypass Youtube Update 2022 Android 8, 9 Fix

On LG Android 8 & 9 phones there is an easy method to bypass the Google account verification via the Youtube app.

However, now on most devices, it gets stuck on the youtube update screen that reads – “Update for a faster, better youtube”.

In this post, we are going to learn how to fix this issue and bypass the FRP lock on LG devices without updating the youtube app.

Let’s begin the troubleshooting to reach the LG home screen –

I forgot the LG lock screen password so I did a factory data reset using the volume down & power buttons.

After the reset, it brought me to the “Welcome” screen.

Let’s tap the forward button to move ahead.

Now, we need to connect our device to a Wi-Fi network.

After checking for updates, it brings me to the “Copy apps & data” screen.

Click “Set up as new” (or “Don’t copy” if your device is running on Android 9).

Now, I’m stuck on the screen lock password verification screen. I either need to enter the correct password or the previously synced Google account.

I don’t remember either of the two.

Let’s go back to the first page to bypass the Google account.

On the “Welcome” screen we need to click on “Accessibility” then “SETTINGS”.

On the Accessibility page, we need to click on “Switch Access”.

Now, tap “SETTINGS” located at the bottom-right corner.

On the Switch access settings page, choose the first option “Help & Feedback”.

Now, we need to select the article – “Control your Android device with Switch Access”.

There is a youtube video on this page. Let’s click the “3 dots” icon on the top-right corner.

Now, tap “Share” and click the “youtube link”.

It brings me to the “Youtube update” screen. We cannot go any further.

Now, we are going to use an alternate Bluetooth method to bypass the Google account on LG Android 8 & 9 devices as follows –

How to bypass LG Google account stuck on Youtube Update screen – Android 8 & 9

To bypass the Google lock we need a locked SIM card.

You can use any SIM and any device to lock this SIM.

I’m using LG Aristo 2 & Metropcs SIM for this task.

Insert the SIM card into your device and open the Settings app.

You can search for the “Lock SIM Card” option in Settings.

On the LG phone, open the Settings app and Go to “Lock Screen & Security”

Now, choose “Set up SIM card lock” and turn on the “Lock SIM Card” option.

It asks for the current SIM PIN. The default PIN for MetroPCS SIM is 1234

Let’s enter the PIN code and hit OK. The SIM card lock is now enabled.

You can find the SIM PIN code on Google. It varies from carrier to carrier.

Now, insert the locked SIM card into your Google-locked device.

The phone will now ask for the SIM code.

Enter code 1234 and hit the tick icon.

When the “Not signed in” notification shows up, scroll down the screen starting from “Not Signed in” towards the bottom.

A few quick access icons are visible on the top of the screen. Long-press the Bluetooth icon.

Turn on Bluetooth and get a Bluetooth headset or Earbud.

I’m using the “PTron Bassbuds Urban” earbud.

Pair the Earbud with your LG device.

Now, tap the call button of the Bluetooth headset/touch area of the earbud for 3 seconds and release it.

This will launch Google Assistant on your LG phone.

Now, tap the mic and say the term email

A “G Search” option shows up at the bottom. Click on it.

Erase the term email from the search bar

Now, again type the same term email

The “email app” will appear in the search result. Click on it.

Now, select the email provider as “Microsoft Exchange”.

Enter any email address and when the “MANUAL SETUP” option is highlighted, click on it.

The next page is Server Settings. Scroll down on this page and hit “Add” to add a client certificate.

When the “Attention” pop-up appears, choose “CHANGE”.

Now, we are on the “Select Screen Lock” page.

Set up a new Pattern, PIN, or Password.

I’ve picked the first option.

Hit “NEXT” on the Secure start-up screen and draw an easy-to-remember pattern.

I’ve drawn the pattern L.

Re-draw the Pattern and tap “CONFIRM”.

The screen lock is now changed. We have replaced the lock screen password with this new pattern.

Use the back button to go back to the first page.

On the Welcome screen, hit the forward button to proceed.

Click Don’t Copy/Set up as new on the “Copy apps & data” screen.

It skipped the screen lock verification page and directly took me to the “Google – Verify your account” screen.

To restore the “Draw your Pattern” screen we need to hard reset the device via Recovery Mode.

This only happens on the LG Android 9 devices. If your device is running on Android 8 Oreo, you can draw the pattern L and follow the on-screen prompts to reach the home screen.

Power off your LG phone as shown above.

Now, press the volume down + power button to turn on your device.

As soon as the “LG Logo” shows up, release only the power button for a moment and hold it again. Do not leave the volume down key.

Now, keep pressing both the buttons to enter Recovery Mode.

In Recovery Mode, move down from “No(Exit)” to “Yes” with the volume key. Then press the power button once to select “Yes”.

Again move down from “No(Exit)” to “Yes” and reset your device with the Power key. The hard reset will take a few minutes.

Now, enter the PIN code and unlock your LG Screen.

On the “Welcome” screen tap the forward arrow and connect your device to a Wi-FI network.

After connecting to the internet it’ll bring you to the “Copy apps & data” page.

Choose “Don’t copy”/”Set up as new” to proceed further.

We are now on the pattern lock verification screen.

Draw the Pattern L that we set earlier.

The Pattern verification is successful.

Use the “Skip” option to bypass the Google account sign-in.

Accept the Google services terms and conditions in the next step.

Hit “ACCEPT” to proceed further.

Now, tick the “I agree” checkboxes on the “Legal Documents” screen and click “DONE”.

We have successfully bypassed the FRP lock on the LG device without updating the youtube app.
